Getting HCK to work after an Internet Services Upgrade
If, when you upgrade Internet Services components of a FirstClass Server, you find that the pages created using the Home Page Construction Kit are no longer working, do not be alarmed. The fix is simple.
What happens when FirstClass is upgraded.
First an explanation.... When a Service Pack or a major version upgrade occurs that affects the Web Templates, the FirstClass installers now move all of the contents of your old Template folders into a newly created container called Archive Template Sets and this can be found inside the Template Sets folder inside the WWW folder. For example, the contents of Standard Templates are moved into the Standard Template Archive.
The installer then adds the new content into the existing Standard Template folder.
The problem is that the HCK template 2013 (and 2012 for HCK1 users) along with the HCK folder have also been moved to the archive folders.
How do I get HCK working again?
The solution is very simple.
First of all, you have to know what your default template set is.
For FirstClass sites that were running under version 7.1 or earlier of FirstClass, check your file inside the Internet Services folder. For sites installed after 7.1 or for those who have multiple sites set up, check the inside your site folder.
Check to see what the Primary Web Interface is.
If the Primary Web Interface is FirstClass Classic or FirstClass Enhanced, then your template folder is the Standard Templates folder. If the Primary Web Interface is set as Simplified Mail only, your template folder is the Simple Templates folder. Similarly if you have Livelink selected, your template set is Livelink Templates and finally, if it is Mobile, this corresponds to the Mobile Templates folder.
1. Open the folder and locate the old folder corresponding to your template set. It will have the same name as your current, upgraded templates folder.
2. Locate the folder called and MOVE it to the folder of the same name inside the "Template Sets" folder.
3. If you were an HCK2 or earlier installation, locate the two templates that are inside the archived folder and MOVE these to thefolder of the same name. If you have not upgraded to HCK v2 or v3, you will only have the 2012 template)
4. Open your Internet Monitor (found inside the Internet Services folder) and click on the Control Tab.
Click on
This should get you back in business again.
If this fails, try restarting Internet Services.
