Updating Language Resources
The ability to update your Lang.rez files (or English Resources) through batch admin is a wonderful thing.
Previously, one had to download the English Resources (or En.rez) file and manually merge forms and then upload the forms to the fcResource Registry, making sure that you either renamed or deleted the previous version.
Now, the UPDATE script command can do this for you.

You can simply address a message to Batch Admin, upload a copy of your new resource file to the message and use the following command in the message body
UPDATE "multi-site setup:fc resource registry:english resources" "newforms.fc"
UPDATE "multi-site setup:fc resource registry:en.rez" "newforms.fc"
Where "newforms.fc" is the name of the file that you have attached.

I have taken this one step further because I could never remember the syntax.  I have created a stationery form (Update Resources.rez) that has a single field where I enter the name of the attached file and use Field Substitution to replace the value of the form name in the body of the message.
I wish I could use field 13 which is the actual field name of the attached file, but for some reason, Batch admin does not like this.

The stationery document looks like this.

Now I just used this stationery document every time as I have embedded the text in the document and I never have to remember the syntax.  Just Attach the rez or fc file to the messages, enter the same name in the field and send.  Now my language resource file has been updated.
Although uploading resource files to the rules folder of a conference will automatically pull the resources in to an FC8 client, if you still have users with FC7 or earlier, the way to automaticlly update their settings file is to have it merged with your language resource file.
